It Feels Ordinary

This is for last week's #badsongclub prompt "Ordinary".

Early today I wrote a very positive protest song and then I almost immediately wrote this one.

I started with the bassline and in line with the rules of Bad Song Club I had this one written in 30 minutes. I had the vocals and bass recorded in that time as well and then added the snaps, mixed and added the synth.

My friend gave me a bass and I am loving playing with it. I have never written a song on bass before, it's fun.

The sparse tone here works really well with the lyrics. Love the bass tone, it's a great core for the tune. And "It'll all burn down in a beautiful blaze of glory" really does sum it up, doesn't it? Very cool!

Oh, I love the moodiness of this, and those finger snaps are very cool. Ominous. What a really great melody and vocal too. I love it all.

Yeah, the bass, vocals and finger clicks works so well. The vocal effects gives an uneasiness to it which works so well with the fantastic bassline. Nice work!

i think the bass here really works well, gives it an ominous feel and that solo has a nice icy feel to it that adds to the feeling of tension

Very cool vibe here! I like the message and how the music reinforces it with its patient tenacity. Snaps are great, love a wordless chorus that speaks volumes. And the lead is very effective having it's pitch and tone so contrary. And when all done in 30 mins, that's what I call god. 😀

Amazing how atmospheric this is, even just the bits with bass and vocal. Very haunting, sinister stuff. Those mmmms and snaps are so cool!

Love that stripped-back instrumentation. Great bass riff that drives the song along. Huge atmosphere, and the guitar solo gives a little pop of something else in the middle.

Cool bass riff. The snaps were a nice touch. I also like the layers on the vocals with the flangy effects and super long reverbs. And then you threw in ethereal soloing. It all feels very cool.

Really cool use of the bass here to drive the song. It nicely captures the feel of the lyrics. And the wordless chorus with the snaps is also quite effective. Very well done.
