Lyrics

|: Before you lay a curse on a man, You'd better dig two graves. :| You may be clever, you may be bold, But revenge is a dish best served cold. Before you lay a curse on a man, You'd better dig two graves.

|: Make him pay the best that you can, But remember to dig two graves. :| You may be clever, you may be bold, But revenge is a dish best served cold. Make him pay the best that you can, But remember to dig two graves.

|: If today is the day to fulfil your plan, Just remember: dig two graves. :| You may be clever, you may be bold, But revenge is a dish best served cold. If today is the day to fulfil your plan, Just remember: dig two graves. Just remember: dig two graves. Just remember: dig two graves.

Really love the dissonant sound of the guitar in this, and your voice is incredible. Great song subject too. Absolutely love the line: You may be clever and you may be bold, but revenge is a dish best served cold... That will probably live rent-free in my head for a while ;)

LOVE the sound of this, and your performance. I hate comments that make comparisons to other songwriters and I'm not doing that. But this song has some of the the same strenghths that later Tom Waits songs do. This vibe is kind of a sawtooth truth that cuts with the jagged edge of music to back it up. I like this very much!

I like that you included the percussive aspect of the guitar. It adds a darkness that fits the song extremely well. And your guitar playing in general is great. Nice job!

Love the interplay between the guitar and the vocal melody. The plaintive feel of the music fits the lyrics perfectly.

Reminds me of a song I collaborated with an acquaintance on using the same theme. Also used a swing feel! Would have been better with an acoustic like yours.

Cool jumping off point. I love the feel of this (both how the lyrics flow and the melody and music that support them so well). I particularly like the beginning of the second verse, because it reminds us that, even if your revenge is justified, it's still going to affect both of you.

Wow loving this guitar with the subject matter of this song! Dig two graves is such a good hook, jealous I didn’t think of it myself. This could definitely be in a movie score. Really eerie! Love it so much! Great work

I love the big twang on this song! I like how it paired with the dark theme of the lyrics. The Japanese proverb inspiration is really cool. Seems like a song that would be the theme song of a tv show. Great! 🐸

Love the bends and twangy-ness - helped emphasize the two-sided nature of revenge with the tonal uncertainty of where the note was going.

Good saying, I had not heard! Makes sense! Nice singing guitars there!

I like this one a lot! Deceptively simple and bluesy. Oh and the advice is spot on too.

@siasa

Great blues song. If you told me it was by Robert Johnson, I'd believe you. Stay away from them crossroads, now!

swamping sound in a good way. will feet a redneck gang tv series or something like that. the voice isn't on time sometimes with the guitar but isn't much of an issue

good advice, and its true, put a curse on someone and you end up with a curse on yourself. love the straight-forward lyrics and delivery. the guitar licks add a touch of blues to this, which is fundamentally a ballad written in a blues structure.

@ragbag

Great bluesy feel to this. I have vague recollections of the proverb from somewhere. I like your vocal delivery and guitar playing - they work well together in this. :-)
