Elaine says: Tom sends guitars, I sing Tom says: whatever is good about this, Elaine did it, absolute truth.
Lyrics
am i living sitting can i stand i am missing something - not you, just - all of the fingers on all of my hands
thought I said: catastrophe you lecture me about self-mastery redacted what I thought you asked of me now you act as though you've had the last of me
the veins we mined for gold led us in to dark and cold yet a shaft should lead back out again, so we were told
can we regain the sunlight, where we both can see us? dark days are coming - keep hold of the packet of your sunrise powder dark days are coming - dark days a day can be eternity, a day can be an hour
so I'll give you the best of me I'll expect you to accept the rest of me ah, the wrecking ball that makes a mess of me, you can welcome it as a guest of me.
we will mine the mother lode we will touch what is not known our act will raise us up into the Day of Gold
Gold Days Gold Days what do you say?

I always enjoy a song with dire, troubling images, but sang with a smooth and graceful voice. A great combination! And some hope for happiness by the end. I enjoyed the transitions and differences between each section. And, since @toms said "whatever ever good was done by Elaine," I must say, wonderful guitar playing and layering, ELAINE.
That opening is just magical..and then the turn to the backbeat is fantastic. That part is so catchy, snappy and melodic. Ooh...the gold days part gave me chills. So good! Was it all Elaine? Doesn't sound like it to me. That guitar/bass/drums combo is killer. Given that I'm an idiot, I never know how people get drums to sound so good
Oh man - the intro pulled me by the ears. This songs moves so nicely. Between the melody, the progression, the guitar, the instrumentation. It's inspiring. Elaine your voice just soars on this - I love how you just let it dance. Amazing collab y'all.
I dig this one, just as your character digs (and resolves not to stop). Well played, well written, well sung, well done!
I love a lyric that pulls me in yet still asks me to look deeper. This is both poppy and exploratory, I love the way the tone of the lyric shifts through each musical idea. Leaning into repeating "me" as the rhyme but paired with best/rest mess/guest works really well here, like a series of quick jabs. Great sounds, great lyric, great collab!
Wonderful intro, you just know it just was building to something tasty. Heading nodding along to this one and some chair spins. Elaine, you sound in your happy zone with this one. Great backing track...one of fav this year. I have an ear worm and that's a good thing!
Enjoyed this immensley.
What a lovely, unique and interesting melody. Lovely backdrop of music and beautiful vocal. A very polished sounding result. I love this! It reminds me of Joni Mitchell.
Lovely vocals and lyric. I liked how you went with the me, me, me rhyme. Very interesting and you sang those in such a way that they were all unique. Great Job!
Beautiful space! Interesting lyrics. They are evocative without being literal, very poetic. Such an upbeat take on the golden days. Wonderful energy.
These lyrics literally dig deeper. I have many ideas of the meaning which is a great thing. Production is niiiice!
Ah this is all kinds of transcendence!
Wow, this hit me hard. Just recently I was reading about famous mining disasters, and also talking to a friend about Plato's "Allegory of the Cave", both of which images I feel I can see reflected in this wonderful lyric, along with so much more. And what an uplifting, musingly beautiful performance.
Beautiful dreamy track, the production and vocals are great. terrific job.
You definitely feel the Steely Dan vibe which is a very good thing in my book
Steely Dan good vibe on part one, just beautiful. Nice driver in second part to bring song forward. I day you har a lovely collab. Thanks 🙏 Gold days make me think of old days.
There's serious complication musicality and musicianship behind this easily-flowing seriously professional and enticing piece. Well done both!
Ore Ida, I am "Digging" this Cool Collab. Gorgeous singing and luscious guitar work are tunneling through my brain. Well done.
Lovely.
this is one for a dance marathon night. who is going to take home the pot of gold on gold day? well, it does remind me of the old dance marathons back when people would risk everything for a piece of change. i csn feel the wind stirred u by those big dresses spinning around...yet im sure this song isnt about a dance marathon at all.
oh, the lyrical flow. so sweet.
them guitars. oh yes indeedy. firm, but not in the way.
the lyric is abstract enough that I want to hear this enough times to find my own meaning. and that's a good thing.
and you know I love your voice.
These lyrics are so clever. I really love the entire digging for gold metaphor. The melodies are fantastic. So very original and wonderful. I truly loved every piece of this song. Awesome collab!
