There's A Train

Liner Notes

#protest #political #acousticonetake #indiefolk It's been a rough couple days dealing with some personal stuff, but I'm BACK! I was experimenting with Apple Loops for the first time and found this really cool shuffle groove that was much more uptempo than I think anything I've ever done. This was a really fun exercise, and very satisfying and cathartic for getting some rage out of my system.

Lyrics

My brain normally doesn’t run this fast, but There’s a train and we’ve gotta catch it so Leave your suitcase, it’s time to run We can send for it when the doing’s done, oh

This is not a time or place for caution Leave your polite politics behind; No more posturing, no more big talkin’ It’s ti-i-ime

Fight the powers that be We won’t stand for oligarchy None of us is free Until the day we ALL are free Until the day we all are free

Breakdown normally doesn’t go this fast, but They’ve had four years to write their little plan We can’t rely on the democrats Don’t be the last one to learn from our past

This is not a time or place for caution Leave your maybes and somedays behind No more posturing, time to show them Their consequences

Fight the powers that be We won’t stand for oligarchy None of us is free

Until the day we ALL are free Until the day we all are

Tearing down the —Borders Screw these executive —orders They can’t control what refuses to obey So we won’t give them —quarter

Fight the powers that be We won’t stand for oligarchy None of us is free Until the day we ALL are free Until the day we all are free

Nicely written and nicely sung. It is indeed going too fast, and we can't stand to let it keep going this way.

Excellent. Love the energy and the sentiment in this. And the train is moving way too fast. Fight the powers indeed. I think I'll be singing this all day!

Great melodies and the driving chord progression compliments the lyrical sentiment. The prechorus is particularly catchy on this one.

Love this line - "this is not a time or place for caution". And connecting the train verse to the breakdown verse with not normally going at that speed was super cool. So many great threads in this!

Amazing, love this protest song! Sounds positive and also angsty all at the same time. Great one take and performance!!

YASSSS! I'm so here for this! I love how the song builds, especially going into each chorus. Put together, it really delivers a powerful message. This was a great exercise for you because it led to a real keeper of a song!

Hell yeah, this is excellent! Powerful lyrics and an equally powerful delivery.

You’ve given voice and song to something so powerful. Yes playing nice and not rocking the boat gets one nowhere with malicious narcissists. You sound amazing and the guitar with its shuffle groove really brings it.
