In The Morning - Rough instrumental mix - Needs Collab!

Liner Notes

"In The Morning" started out as part of a 10x10 last year. I decided to develop it more, adding more lyrics and making a grungy wall of sound with three guitar parts. But as I tried to add a vocal, it just wasn't working! There wasn't enough of a melody to sustain it and I also couldn't make the lyrics sit in the groove. So I am offering this up as a backing track in case anyone wants one. It's kind of #grunge or #stoner rock I guess, it's very simple and there's a lot of space to do things in. Intro is 8 bars starting at the third bar. Chords are Em-G-A-Em repeated once (two cycles in total) the verses are 16 bars, also Em-G-A-Em, repeated four times. Choruses are Am (2 bars), Em (2 bars), Am (2 bars)- B(1 bar), C# -D -C (over 1 bar) The verses and choruses are repeated two more times. There is no bridge; the outro is a fade out over the verse chords, with the very simple lead guitar part from the intro repeated. Drums are GarageBand Drummer; feel free to replace with real drums or a programmed pattern. Tempo is 80 BPM. You can download the track from the demo section (right-click on it?) or email me for a copy of the track. I'm still figuring out the best way to collect individual stems from GarageBand. #needscollab #needsvocals

Lyrics

I had lyrics in mind for this; I reproduce them here to give an indication of the general topic I had in mind. No obligation to use any of the lyrics, but if you can make them fit a melody, that'd of course be great!

In The Morning

Em- G- Am I've been had
And you've been had There's no use getting up in the morning

All the lies That you've been told Will all crumble to dust in the morning

Don't run too fast The race is run Why not chill and drink beer in the morning

A We've all got to make a living but the sunrise is free E When you bask in mother nature, that's how you were born to be A When you get yourself a cold one and listen to the birds B - C# - D - C The dawn chorus of the ages is a warning to be heard

Every friday At five PM Your life begins, and ends on Monday morning

And when you turn 75 The sunset of life is a morning

You get to play and goof about And wake up with delight at the morning

Chorus They want you to get wiser but you can choose not to be You’re free from expectations, you don’t have to bend the knee When you get yourself a cold one and listen to the birds The dawn chorus of the ages is a warning to be heard

All the men who grew rich on your back They can take you to your grave in the morning

They chew you up and spit you out And they never even notice the morning

They can live to 95 They end up the same place in the morning

All right, NOW the lyrics are included. I don't know how I failed to post them twice, but it's been that kind of a day to be honest.

@antlion Go ahead! It'd be interesting to hear multiple people's take on this backing track.

@antlion

Love this! 🤘 Might whip up a lyric/vocal for this if that's cool.

@robinleaf - forgot to paste them in! I've fixed it now. And yes, I would like for you to add whatever you see fit!

Ooh I like this a lot! I don't see your lyrics posted though, if you still wanted to offer a rough idea. I could work with this (do a top line - lyrics + vocal melody) if you would like me to!
