Lyrics

Verse One:

The icy flakes are tumbling Gently from the sky I’ve always found them beautiful Albino butterflies I check my phone to see if you’ve replied

Verse Two:

Crystalline and lovely Tiny specks of white Softly touch my skin Unknowing of my plight I check my phone to see if you’ve replied

Chorus:

I sit and watch the snow It’s delicate and slow And it’s cold, and it’s cold, and it’s cold I’ve nowhere else to go And so I watch the show And it’s cold, and it’s cold, and it's cold

Verse Three:

Against the orange background The flakes are faintly flying The sun is slowly setting The light listlessly dying I check my phone to see if you’ve replied

[repeat chorus]

Bridge:

The blanket hardly ever breaks All of my mistakes Are slowly covered up with flakes I silently survey the scene Innocent and clean The world is peaceful and serene

[repeat chorus]

I related so much on looking at the snow. Congrats on the poetry there. that's a topic already adressed plenty of time but you manage to come up with ideas I never saw (Albino butterflies got me too). it was all sweet and enchanting and it felt good because I just read your "four light" lyrics and I kinf of needed a lighter thing. But then my brain added up puzzle pieces like "Unknowing of my plight" ; "I’ve nowhere else to go" and "The blanket hardly ever breaks" and I began to see a homeless person sleeping outside under the snow. And I couldn't stop to relate. Maybe I'm overinterpreting it. But the juxtaposition of beautyfull snowflakes and the human tragedy is very striking. Good job if it's on purpose. If not, we should blame my clumsy english.

This is such a well written lyric. Love the imagery (“albino butterflies”) the reprised line and the chorus with its repetition. There’s both an ache and a respite here and you’ve captured being caught in between so well. I hope it finds music I would love to hear this and it deserves to be sung

Wow, these are beautiful lyrics. And, profoundly sad based on that one repeated line "I check my phone to see if you’ve replied"! And that line should NOT be that powerful to flavor your whole song BUT we have all been here. Checking. Checking. Hoping. Wishing. Checking. I just love how you've tied the snow, lovely but relentless, to the drama that is unfolding (or not unfolding which is even worse!) And I am simply delighted that you have compared snowflakes to "Albino butterflies"!!! These are some wonderful lyrics! #tit4tat

This is very beautiful and calming. The repeating "I check my phone to see if you’ve replied" line acts as sort of a grounding, humane touch. You manage to bring something very fragile into the picture with it.

Thanks for your kind comments on my first solo Fawm song Page 32 of This Book. I really like the patient wintry images you paint in Watching the Snow. The human elements of phone checking and the covering over of mistakes, I find intriguing and so Im pulled in by the contrast. What type of music do you imagine for the lyrics?
