Come Fly With Me

Liner Notes

Pausing from the rage, trying to focus on positive things and light...we all need some light now. I was messing with my Korg T3 and came up with the initial pad and thought that might sound cool over a drum&bass groove using Clyde Stubblefield loops. Kinda banged it out from there tonight. One of my life-themes is music as flight for the soul...when I'm skinnier I sometimes visually express this on stage wearing surplus flight suits LOL! Life's short, be weird and have fun...life is performance art...but anyway...music can cut through the baloney, take us soaring, unite our hearts as humans...this is the way.

Excuse the guitar solo, I need to redo that... :-p

Lyrics

Earthbound Shackled Weight of the world on our shoulders A means Of escape From a world that’s just growing colder

To be open To something Beyond our known horizon A lifeboat A starship A transport for soul’s renewal

Way back from the mists of time Ahead into the future - We can fly On music’s wings Through storms of uncertainty Into a brighter tomorrow Come fly With me

Uniting Our souls Across the chasms of time and space Music Binds us And takes us to the ultimate cosmic place

Way back from the mists of time Ahead into the future - We can fly On music’s wings Through storms of uncertainty Into a brighter tomorrow Come fly With me

Way back from the mists of time Ahead into the future - We can fly On music’s wings Through storms of uncertainty Into a brighter tomorrow Come fly With me

Way back from the mists of time Ahead into the future - We can fly On music’s wings Through storms of uncertainty Into a brighter tomorrow Come fly With me

You know to create a tight groove. This is some good fusion

I love that this has jazz/funk/fusion roots going on it, but because drum and bass musicians sampled all of that, it also feels a little like chill late 90s drum and bass. As always, your stuff cooks. Love the sun coming out on "we can fly on music's wings."

Needed this tonight. Balm for the soul. And that guitar solo is fine!

Y'know, it's really too bad we didn't know each other growing up. I could have learned a great deal from you. No cap. Certain aspects of your music pushes my own approach (and I mean it when I say I learn from A LOT of FAWMers here). I like this message and your sense of optimism. I've done a rough draft of what the whole Jelly Invasion concept means and I probably won't be able to actualize it during FAWM, but you've conveyed the message here in full glory. This arrangement has so much happening and gives me this awesome Christopher Cross moment I recall from a performance of his some years ago. This has a special vibe to it, man.

Love the guitars tones throughout. Nice funky bass. I love the kinetic energy the drums are bringing to the tune. Great work

Clyde’s loops keep us grounded and grooving, while your kind of twinkly guitar riffs definitely convey fight in an upward movement. Of course your chord choices are always tasty and fascinating. Great sentiment that’s well sung, played, and produced. Good work!
