Neighbor’s a Devil Tonight

Liner Notes

An amazing story write from @kc_, some killer vocals from @cts, and I played Telecaster and harmonica, a successful collaboration, I feel! (and it's a true story!) That was fun, Gentlemen. (Weird little aside, you can hear my dog barking near the end... whoops)

Lyrics

Church Lady’s ‘Satan?’ Was burning bright Our neighbor’s an angel But she’s a devil tonight…

Prayed for strength that hallow’s eve Never one to Covet Neighbors would be joining us And knew the kids would love it So prim and proper, sweet and kind Imagine my surprise Thoughts like this never crossed my mind Had to avert my eyes

An angel by day, Oh, so pure and white Was a smokin’ hot devil this halloween night I‘m in my civvies.. no costume for me She devil so striking - I’m sinning times three Black painted on V neck Lycra “slacks” of the same Horns, pitchfork and cape Had to turn away.

Church Lady’s ‘Satan?’ Was burning bright Our neighbor’s an angel But she’s a devil tonight…

A bumble bee and fireman Kid, hope you’ve got a hose A hippie chick and Anikan Use the force to recompose Looking up to heaven Great night for the stars Stop your warming for her form and Hey I think I can see Mars

Not one to covet, Have to say I did love it Appreciate the art, that it was While my eyes were a “sinning” Doing the wily things that he does

Church Lady’s ‘Satan?’ Was burning bright Our neighbor’s an angel But she’s a devil tonight…

Yow! Our neighbor’s an angel But she’s a devil tonight… Yeah, Our neighbor’s an angel ………. But she’s a devil tonight

@kc_ you crushed it with these lyrics. Nobody better than @cts to bring it to life. What a wonderful vocal performance. Certainly not typical jelly factory fare but you slayed it. Meanwhile @phylo making that tele sing. The guitar sounds great and the harp is a perfect addition. enjoy these stripped back productions. I figure if the somg can hold together with the bare minimum it's a winner. That's the case here...Bravo you three.

Lyrics are killer, fun imagining my IRL church lady neighbor as the subject (wonder what she would think 🙃). Really nice musical setting too and how can i not point out the tasty harmonica

this suggests what craig would sound like if he jammed with the byrds. the guitar and harmonica parts have that open-ended psychedelic groove that david crosby was aleays trying to add to the mix. love that church lady satan image.

Rhyming love it and covet is fantastic. Great folky electric and that harmonica is a great accent. Vocals alternating between spoken dialogue and melody is very effective for the tone of this piece, makes it feel like live around the campfire. A fun little story brought to life by your collaboration. I enjoyed!

@cts

This was actually quite fun and challenging. I’ve not had a chance to dabble in this genre and this was a wonderful opportunity. I appreciated the humor in this. Hats off to you @kc_. And at @phylo - thank you for orchestrating all this whole shebang! We definitely have to have a go at again! Thanks, gents. Nice work here!

Ha, this is a great idea for a song! Great lyrics, and I love the vocals. And...the harmonica. I love the harmonica.

Cool telecaster riffs. The spoken words and harmonica give lots of interesting contrast. Fun lyric.. we'll done.
