#flyaway #skirmish #blacksabbath Inspired by Black Sabbath! (Didnt go with the "bits and pieces" theme at all...just Black Sabbath)
Lyrics
Fly Away
Please don’t look inside my head My thoughts are way too dark Please just let me stay in bed The door is way too far
Saying things, I never said My brain is badly scarred My whole world is black and red All the easy things are hard
Let me fly away Let me fly away Let me fly away Let me fly away
(Break)
I often wish that I could change Escape from who I am Climb outside my mental cage And find my Promised Land
Let me fly away Let me fly away Let me fly away Let me fly away

I love the treatment on the vocals and the melody! Very cool when you go into the upper range, perfect for the lyrics there! Also, a very relatable subject matter for anyone going through depression. Songs that address these issues are extremely important. Well done!
Your vocals are perfect! Love the combination with the acoustic guitar. Lovely soundscape you created here!
I can absolutely see Ozzy singing this! The soaring chorus is so good.
Powerful and I almost missed that it does not have drums or electric guitars though it is proper Sabbath song as far as I am concerned (not a connoisseur though) as those would be unnecessary and probably way more powerful this way.
Really like the song, the production, the performance. Really good vocals!
Oh yeah, this is great! Love your vocals and nice accompanying music. I think the first two lines are very Black Sabbath, and also the 'My brain is badly scarred line'. Would be interesting to hear Ozzy sing it or as a duet with you! 😄 Thanks also for your nice comment on my I'm In Bits lyrics
Smudgie - I love the way that chorus soars just a few feet off the ground - with the single repeated line. The simple verses make so much sense, and the way you sing them gives it this intense sincerity. I think maybe I need to go listen to Black Sabbath if this is like them. Hooray for finishing things up. So good to hear you singing again.
I can't say anything about the Black Sabbath connection because I don't know enough. But I do love the simple chorus lyrics and the way you sing them, and the way it settles back down to the storytelling verses. You painted a salient (and beautiful) difficult emotional picture. Great skirmishing!
The Black Sabbath tag drew me in - love that you've created an acoustic piece that could certainly be made metal. Awesome vocal, too!
