Broadway Lights
Skirmish: my nights with ___ (@fairplay)Liner Notes
#lyricsonly #mynightswith I had written on this theme two nights ago, but that was only a snippet. Why not expand that to make it a whole song? I borrowed much of the story line from the Bee Gees song “Nights on Broadway,” but changed the character from a detective to a writer (not saying that’s a big change).
Lyrics
I don’t know why You waited so long Where you had been Your place in the sun
Shadows and lights Night and the day All over the world I can’t stay away
Broadway lights Blame it on the Broadway lights On Broadway lights On Broadway
Broadway lights Blame it on the Broadway lights On Broadway lights On Broadway
Some strangers in town Some everyday friends Some start at the top Some stay till the end
Some hide in the dark Some stand in the light The clock ticks away They’re all mine to write
Broadway lights Blame it on the Broadway lights On Broadway lights On Broadway
Broadway lights Blame it on the Broadway lights On Broadway lights On Broadway
Wait wait wait For the moment Wait wait wait For a lifetime Wait wait wait Wait wait Ooh
Broadway lights Blame it on the Broadway lights On Broadway lights On Broadway (repeat)

I've never been to Broadway but the way you describe where the people stand really helped the bring me there. Fun funky lyric.
I was just in New York City, and this really hits the feel of being on the streets there. I can almost forget there isn't already music behind it because it read so musically for me. Great job!
I like the city rhythm you create with the repetition and short concise lines. Very effective. I enjoyed the snippet before and am glad you took it further! Well done.
You still do have some detective vibe in here though. The character is just out there watching and studying, and that gives a detective vibe to me. The way this is written seems like you may have a melody in mind already. It has good flow.
...the rhythm is already there - hope find time to write a melody later - i'd imagine something sparkling and blinking, but i am wrong so often about what will become of such lyrics that i'll just be surprised...
Love that Bee Gee's song - I have it on my workout playlist! Cool idea and lyric, I like the chorus. Good potential for a song.
