Liner Notes

#baritone #autobiography #harmonica So I have a February birthday, and several years ago I started a FAWM tradition for myself, writing the song '59' when I turned 59, then '60' when I turned 60, etc etc. Its now time for that '65' song, and yeah, feels like some sort of turning point, I guess.

Brought out the National baritone tricone guitar (tuned the same as a standard guitar, but starting from C rather then E) and added a bluesy harmonica as well. marked nsfw for one word I couldn't resist...

Enjoy.... might end up being the title track of whatever album I'm assembling from this year's Feb album writing month.. stay tuned. I feel its one of those that said what I wanted to say, so I'm making it my featured song, at least for now...

Lyrics

65 I’m still alive Nothing’s simple cut and dried 65, I survived So many things I loved have died 65, that day’s arrived Whole wide world’s becoming jive

65, are our hands tied Those in power sometime lie 65 I don’t drink and drive Eat my sour cream with chives If my mom was still alive She’d say the whole world’s in a nosedive

65 get out the knives Cut the lows and keep the highs Look back on your life archives one person many lives time was slow and then it flies 65 still alive

65, thought by now I'd have some wisdom and wit but I got that dreaded CRS, you know, 'can't remember shit'

65 it might be wise Have more salad, less French fries When things go south, improvise When all else fails, rationalize We might still have to mobilize At 65, and still alive

65, backup that hard drive Here’s to finding your own tribe You will laugh, you will cry Give yourself a big high five Things still buzzin’ in the hive At 65…

Happy Birthday, Mike - Age is such a weird, weird thing. There's a great German song called Mit sechsundsechzig Jahren erst fängt das Leben an. (At 66, that's when life begins) so there's that to look forward to. Thank you for the backup the hard drive reminder to download my archive one more time....(Fun to have the CRS be "Can't remember, can't remember, Can't remember something that starts with S, Can't remember something that starts with S and rhymes with Wit) Good to hear your masterful delivery and especially your harmonica. I know one of these days I'll run into you on Broadway. Happy OffSeason.

@beacon

What a great tradition, and it's a song on the positive side of looking at that momentus age. Some great lines and classic Skliar vocals and guitar. Yay!

I love the way it sounds like you're trying to remember what CRS stands for :-) The spoken-word flow works really well with that hip, laid-back behind-the-beat feel. Awesome backing and plenty of wisdom, wit and whimsy.

At 66, my tired hips having gone through it At 66, there's no trick still can't remember shit At 66, I must admit its harder to pick up chicks 😀

Your humor and gift of pen amazes me, good job
