Hurtling Down the Highway (with vocals)

Liner Notes
Rob says:
This song arose out of the Random Collaboration forum thread. @moggzy and I were paired up. He wrote an excellent piece of music. It sounded to me like a driving song, so I wrote lyrics along those lines to accompany the song. But neither of us can sing. Then @beacon came to the rescue, laying down a killer vocal track that was added to the song.
Beacon says: My goal this FAWM has been to really get out of my standard box of pretty singing, and see if I can do more different genres and stretch myself. In all my searching through songs to listen to and comments, I found this with the #needsvocals tab, and thought I could try it. Thanks to moggzy and motorcitymusicman for letting me come and play with their great base of guitars and bass!
Lyrics
Verse One:
Up at dawn and get to work you’re always on my mind The thought of seeing you again relieves the daily grind Today lasted forever, I know you know how I feel I had to get out of there and get behind the wheel
Chorus One:
Hurtlin’ down the Hurtlin’ down the Hurtlin’ down the highway Hurtlin’ down the Hurtlin’ down the Hurtlin’ down the highway
I’ve worked all week for this So I could leave on Friday I’m gonna make it there I’m gonna make it my way
Hurtlin’ down the Hurtlin’ down the Hurtlin’ down the highway Hurtlin’ down the Hurtlin’ down the Hurtlin’ down the highway
Post-chorus:
Speed and wind, it’s good to be alive You’ll be waiting at the end of my drive
Instrumental break
Verse Two:
Another cup of coffee, that’ll keep me goin’ a while I keep going faster as I check off every mile Push the pedal to the floor, I’ve got to up my speed Signs keep whizzing by me but too fast for me to read Passing people left and right, it’s like I’m in a race Just a few more hours and I get to see your face
Pre-chorus:
Speed and wind, it’s good to be alive You’ll be waiting at the end of my drive
Chorus Two:
Hurtlin’ down the Hurtlin’ down the Hurtlin’ down the highway Hurtlin’ down the Hurtlin’ down the Hurtlin’ down the highway
I’ve worked all week for this So I could leave on Friday I’m gonna make it there I’m gonna make it my way
Hurtlin’ down the Hurtlin’ down the Hurtlin’ down the highway Hurtlin’ down the Hurtlin’ down the Hurtlin’ down the highway

Oh I really love this. The pumping guitar on the chorus really really shakes the place in an awesome way and makes it feel like a driving song for sure! What a cool collaboration!! 👏 👏 👏
Now this is energetic, I really dig that guitar bassline, those hi-hat-centered drums, the repeated lyrics, the superb singing. I like how there's a 30 second intro and then BAM. If this is a driving song, I'm sure it's a speeding song too. It sounds like a high-speed, very-high-stakes pursuit in an action movie. I like how most of the song uses the same bass note and the melody follows that. The instrumentation, the lyrics and the singing all fit together perfectly, so this a great collab.
You are rocking!
Awesome tune!! What a mega-collab!! The music track is incredible! love the way the bass weaves in and out. Great , classic chord progressions. Awesome lyrics, great hook, I could be jammin to this in my car for sure!! @beacon nails the vocal with the perfect tone and drive!! This is a spectacular song. Great rocker...tons of energy and talent!! Congrats to all three of you!! #tit4tat
beacon catches the drift of these heavy traveling lyrics very well. give a little more abandon, he could be a fine heavy metal singer. i dont usually like banjo, but it is used to god effect here.
Didn't expect that kind of song after the banjo intro. This is very well arranged! Even the dissonances work pretty well! Lyrically more Autobahn (without speed limits) than highway?
Thanks for listening and commenting nicely on my Where did you go collab with @greengrassgirl.
Blurring the edges of genres! The banjo intro into the fuzz guitars is awesome. The change up in the drums as well is particularly good. Ken I love how you have pushed out of your wheelhouse for this track. The hook is perfect for the song and feel. Great collab
Banjo and drums to open up, gives a bit of a backwoods vibe. Almost dropkick murphys. Opens up to some big rock, hurtling down the highway. Can't condone hurtling speeding, but very relatable to get to see a loved one at the end of the week.
This is very cool; the rock/synths/banjo combination is really striking and not something you hear very often. This is finely crafted with a splendid hook in the chorus for good measure. Good mix, too. Job well done all round, chaps!
Love the changes in energy: the build in the pre-chorus, the drop into verse 2 ... and the shift post-banjo intro obviously! The lyrics suit the track wonderfully and the vocal delivery has a nice edge to it too, like you need more coffee!
Nice blend of sounds, moving from banjo (?) to extra crunchy guitars. It all works so well together to support the idea of “hurtlin’ down the highway.” Great collaboration! #tit4tat
Wow, great collab you three! Could almost feel the wind!
Versatile singing, Ken! Loving the music. It's a catchy dirty riff coupled with great lyrics.
what a great 3 way collab! really banging music to start everything off, and "hurtling down the highway" is a great riff on the driving song that matches the energy of the music.
I'm headbanging! And that doesn't happen very often, particularly because I have no hair 😀 Real classic rock vibe to this, but also with some nice production touches that add interest.
whoah the chorus kicks in! nice step out of comfort zone ken, this rocks heavy. gets better and better! nice driving music....
