ZeCoop: Collabing with Theodamus is always special to me, after all these years. We are both in the class of 2011 and I've 'known' them since the beginning. The variety of stuff we have written together is kinda staggering, so I am never worried about what I send, since I know they will crush it. I love the vulnerability of these lyrics, which seem brittle and delicate. The vocal that brings them to life amplifies this. It sounded like a conversation on the telephone in my mind, so I made the verses into that. I had fun adding bridge vocals too! I know I will continue to tweak the mix, but it is good for now. Every year the first thought in my mind is @zecoop - and every year I am the worst at getting my part done quickly, mostly because I don’t want to do something average - doing something really cool for our collab matters a lot to me.

We’ve never done anything remotely similar to anything we’ve done before and no exceptions this year! I’ve been writing quite heavy stuff, then zecoop sent me this gentler acoustic idea with a bit of an edge, and with the unpredictable and new-to-me vocal qualities I’m working with this year what came out feels like it amplifies both the edge and the gentle. Felt a bit delirious both writing it late in the month and recording it very late at night, absolutely love how you’ve put it together and I think this is the first time you’ve joined me in adding some vocals? It’s perfect.
