Liner Notes
This was an idea for an #instrumental bridge in my song "Keith Richards, Dick Van Dyke and God". It is an #acousticonetake because I had about six more goes at it with better sound, kept messing it up and now my fingers hurt.
What I know about modes you could write on the back of a kazoo, and is probably wrong. Nonetheless this sounds as if it is in the Hava Nagila scale, which Google tells me is Phyrgian.
I really like the resulting tune, but it does sound a bit... snake charmer? Not sure how this works with cultural appropriation and orientalism, hence the title. The person I was thinking about as I played it does have the most heartstopping smile though.

Call me pedantic, but I hear it in phrygian with a flattened 4, which is a Turkish mode. Anyway, I dig it and cultural appropriation be damned!

Don't know if it counts as appropriation...I like using modes like that because of the cool flavors they add like your piece here shows. I'm just hearing a lovely nod to what sounds like a really cool human. 😀 I hear you on the fingers...I haven't played this much guitar since...well...last year's FAWM! Nice little piece!

Can't argue with 'my fingers hurt' as a reason to pack it in and post it. Sure sounds Phrygian to me, so I think you nailed it. I also like the play on the two pronunciations of 'Said'

I think this sounds great, I certainly wouldn't consider it appropriation, and I definitely laughed at "what I know about modes you could write on the back of a kazoo" so thank you for that.
