Quantum Consciousness

Liner Notes

@adforperu: 2 relationships in one band are rare. ABBA. Fleetwood Mac. Any others? Let me introduce another to the pile, in what might be the first ever Anglo-Australian double-couple band of its kind.... ok, we need a name.

Anyway, I decided to have a bit a solo bedroom studio jam using hardware only (Korg MS20, Yamaha CS, Behringer Pro-800, Volca beats, Volca synth). I didn't give much thought to arrangement, and I fired it over to @hanley who sprinkled some of his usual magic on it, with some more beats, bass, guitar, and vocal/vocoder. This kicked me into gear with some arrangement ideas. Then we thought it'd be excellent to get our very talented partners involved by essentially giving them both a bit of a loop to play with.. @susyblue returned with some flutes from the very depths of hell (in a good way), and @judypie returned with an excellent vocal. You can hear all our voices on this at some point! (albeit Susy's is through her flute). Anyway, another jabbering on, huge thanks to the gang for this one! Ohhh and for anyone keeping count, I make this my 13th @susyblue collab, 7th @judypie collab (though she sang on some before joining FAWM), and 7th @hanley collab!

@judypie You wrote my binary code lyrics out all wrong, fool!

@leepat

I asked Marvin and he said: "is that the sound of love? excuse me while I contemplate qubit suicide in my corner" you star-spangled bangers, you

I really like the instrumental bit starting at 2:20. there's a trippy and weird (in the best way) quality to it. great collab, you guys! more pls, hehe

What a vibe...Love that guitar that comes in about 1:15 in. Then that calling out of the 0s and 1s...Brilliant. Feels like a totally different song and vibe when everything drops out and the bass takes over center stage at 2:21. A great change-up...So much going on indeed. Wow...That was wicked entertaining...and very unpredictable.

@tan482

What an epic collab! So much going on here. I absolutely love the flute and Vocoder. You're all amazing - more please!

@bigmood

Fuckkkk this is delightful. Love the syncopated robot vocals that build on the patterns til they break into cathartic dancey sections, the sound of the guitar and flute is perfect. Really love the instrumental layers! So much swagger in the overt not covert section, and the chaotic ending...chef's kiss.

This is fantastic. I like all of it but I particularly enjoyed the spooky bit, the craziness with the flutes, who knew flute could space-rave? all the mad sequenced stuff, that sick vocoder

Ahhhhhhh this introbeat is siiiiiiick, you chaps are talking my language this week. Now fuck it up more, like Maybe.

I'm looking at the collab list; it's like when you check out a new series and the cast is insane.

Hey! This is one of the few bands where it's OK to bang at least one other band member without destroying the band! You'll be fine.

God you lot are weird. I love it.

Wouldn't have been my first guess as to what you four lovely people would sound like together, but this is a ripper. The flutes, the bass line, the groove, the vocals - all comes together beautifully. More please. (Though now you're a double-couple band I guess it's all cocaine and paranoid recriminations from now on.)

That's some crazy fun. Great mind movie.

@sapient

I could spend days in a tune like this... maybe I just did? It does feel like it makes time and reality all go a bit wobbly round the edges. Many many good things happening in my ears right now...

This was a fun groove to live in for 6 minutes. Brought to mind early !!! for me. Flute, vocoder, and a pharmacology/theology rhyme. What more do you need, really?

@what

A Supergroup!! Great idea! The beat hits so hard, and grooves so deep - instantly locked in! An adventure in sound - starts in the club, and ends at an edge of a forest. lyrics are cool - i feel that's exactly the words a conscious computer would use. The break away sound of the flutes makes everything sound free - as if we are cursed to be free, in that Sartre-sense. Perfect all the way!

@wynia

Bopping my head by 20 seconds in, nice beat. Robot voices are perfect for the binary spacey feel! I can’t help but think of the Flight of the Conchords in a warm fuzzy memory with the binary solo breakdown. Love all the different “movements” in the piece. siren sound…spooky! And then that chaotic jazz flute, so cool!

The first part has such a cool electro-groove! Love the way it kind of shudders unexpectedly into the second section in a way that slightly breaks my brain (compliment) - the bass and flute madness is great and it's so satisfying when it kicks back into the main groove. Amazing work from the whole team!

I'm wearing a t-shirt from the Nottingham band Grain Mother as I listen, and coincidentally their lineup includes two couples.

@gbg2016

Amazing collaboration - so many cool parts making up a delicious whole. Those flutes are killer!

This is properly quirky ad fully original. I love how you've all contributed something integral that's made it more than the sum of its parts. Fully bonkers but great!

Jazz flute rave up! I had no idea what to expect when I hit play on this one, and rightly so it turns out. I think you've created a new genre, and why did this not exist until now? The head-nodding beat that underpins it all is great. Vocoder rocks. A lovely dusting of minimal guitar. Binary lyrics! Man, this track goes everywhere. the flute freakout for some reason reminds me of Jafar being sucked into his lamp in Aladdin. Anyway, it all leads back to a good old fashioned knees up. Seems like everyone's pulling out the dance tunes today and I'm loving it. It seems there are no #rave tags on fawm yet, and I can think of no better reason to have one than this banger

I love it. I sounds like the soundtrack to an imaginary 80s dystopian cyberpunk indie film. And Radiohead's The National Anthem mixed with Kraftwerk.
