All Good Things

Liner Notes

Final #prog extravaganza? Check. FAWM #anthem? Check. Everything-including-the-kitchen-sink #fullProduction? Check. #harmonyGuitars? Check. Let's go!

This is song number 28 for me, and that's my last for this month. I did not expect to achieve a double FAWM this year, but somehow I managed it because you lot all helped. Thank you to you all; you're wonderful. You know that, right?

Lyrics

The end draws near The finish line's in sight Then we disappear Back to the night

What mad pursuit What twisted route Did we all follow here Now we salute Before we scoot 'til we return next year

Say "au revoir" To worthy friends For all good things Come to an end

Write like a gangster Sleep when you're dead Sing songs of hamsters And prefab sheds

It's hard to start a fire in the pouring rain But it so transpires That we'll do this again

Even when just reading the lyrics I get a bit sentimental and remember what me or others sung of hamsters or pouring rain. But before I dive into the self-pity pool because I didn't participated like in the years before I'm going to applaud you and all the others for carrying the FAWM torch!

I didn't check to see if you ticked it all off, I always assume you will have! I like phrasing and how it sits in the mix, and right on that guitar! well.one guitar! very full earful song, really nice, didn't seem like 4 minutes I want the over prog 9.minute version

Well done. The instrumentation and groove are great. What a way to close out the challenge. Congratulations.

I am not so enthuseastic about FAWN as you about it , but this is for the converted and I see why they love it. Very good musician and with a song that give you opportunity to show what you can do. 28 songs of big quality is a going big achievement.

A perfect ending!

Oh this is such a wonderful tribute to the closing curtain of FAWM. And the references made me lol!

This sounds amazing @headfirstonly !

Fantastic work! What a great way to end the month!

@beto Mod

Yeah, what a huge FAWM anthem! Love those guitars on the chorus in particular, but the whole arrangement is beautiful.

And this is how I felt listening to the song:

I love me a prog anthem, and this one delivers. Clever lyrics, a fitting tribute, and the production is amazing. Really well done.

@mikeb

An epic FAWM closer! Lots of old-time references included for those in the know!

Yngwie Malmsteens wisdom : "How can less be more? More is more!" is always a good guideline when making prog. This is good stuff.I enjoy listening

Great ending to Fawm, sum up many aspects of the time well in the referencing lyrics!

@ohljazz

A fine end-of-FAWM number. I admit I'm not steeped enough in FAWM lore to get all the references but I enjoyed the rock anthem energy

Cracking capstone to a great FAWM! I'm still being pursued by the Song Hamster to finish my stuff up tonight!! Cheers, this was such a blast!! This was a dark one this year but I think we all needed the catharsis!

@sapient

Ah, now THAT'S how to end a FAWM 🤘🤩🤘 You've packed so much goodness into these 4 minutes. That lead tone at the 2 1/2 minute mark is a particular delight. What a February it's been! I'm gonna miss it, but it'll be nice to get a wee bit of rest 😏

Hamster? Check. EasyShed? Check. Hard to Start a Fire in the Rain? Check.

Yup. True FAWM-culture song.

Thanks for the comments and the collab, Chris, and I am sure I will see you around!
