Nothing Left But The Blues

Liner Notes
Some years I do a blues based FAWM on the last day of the challenge. I took the day off this year to do just that. But it ain't gonna happen. I had a few titles lying around and this was one of them.
Lyrics
My girlfriend tells me one thing My wife says something else What am I supposed to do? I lost my house, I lost my dog My life's a living hell Now I have nothing left but the blues
I hear they're looking for me all over town So please don't say a word, don't make a sound I know I don't deserve it But tell them I'm not around
My girlfriend tells me one thing My wife says something else What am I supposed to do? I lost my house, I lost my dog My life's a living hell Now I have nothing left but the blues
I had everything under control But all my lies started to take its toll And now I'm too scared to look To climb out of my hole
My girlfriend tells me one thing My wife says something else What am I supposed to do? I lost my house, I lost my dog My life's a living hell Now I have nothing left but the blues

I clicked on this title because it reminded me of an Allman Brothers album I was listening to earlier. So this was unexpected - and awesome! Big guitars, bar band vibe - this rocks!
Fun song. I don't like the guy, but he's funny. The rhythm could use some tightening, but I'm sure you know that (late FAWM after all). I'm amazed you got this much done. Do you know the Radney Foster song, "Everybody Gets the Blues?" His vibe is more lovelorn that f**ked up, but kind of the all-I've-got-left-is-the-blues, like your noble effort.
Good storytelling here without needing to use too many words (that’s an art!). I like the driving, distorted guitars and the nice solo at the end. The contrast between the chorus and the verses works nicely, and it’s a memorable melody. Great job!
This is a fun lyrical read about a dude who should know better. I'm sure a lot of blokes would relate to it and I always love reading bluesy lyrics too. Nice work
Always love a major to minor change like the one you have on ‘what am I supposed to do’. Great change up into the slightly less heavy middle section, before you launch back into all those lovely driving distorted guitars. Awesome soloing on that outro 🤘
Real blues, the best thing when all the worst can be expressed in such a major manner
I think setting this as something other than an old-fashioned blues makes it seem like this poor guy doesn’t even have the blues left. Nothing like an unreliable narrator to get you rooting for the underdog.
