Broke The Silence

NSFW Skirmish: 'Who Ate the Last Piece o... (@ragbag)Liner Notes
I'm still in complete shock at how musically prolific I've been over FAWM after 4 years of feeling pretty disconnected from writing, I was just hoping and praying that 'one day, music will come back to me'
Which is has, and I'm delighted!
This is one for us all heading towards the finish line.
Huge props to @ragbag for a brilliant Skirmish prompt!
Lyrics
VERSE Choose your level Of difficulty Pain or peril What will be It’s a choice You use your voice Or tap out before the clock strike one
VERSE There’s a fire Of new energy And it’s blazing And burning in me All’s not lost But the cost To blow out the flame is too much to pay
CHORUS So I Broke the Silence Finally
I have Held tight Waiting For all these years
You don't know what it took for me To walk around this world without a beat
So I Broke the Silence Finally
RAP Sick and tired of hearing myself Banging on about my poor mental health Feet firm on my soapbox even though I know That I fall to the floor when the door clicks closed
Out of air and defeated at the end of the day I needed to stop, take a minute, figure out what to say Talk about practising what I preach I need to sort myself I need to find a way to breach this
Take a mirror, hold it up, look myself in the eye Pick up a plate, eat the last of this humble pie Finish a song, don't take too long It’s really not that serious honey
it’s just words, sound, music in a hurry It’s just syllables what's all the worry Don’t make a big deal doesn’t make money But fuck that, it’s my come back song
It’s my life thats all It’s my confidence, my inner sense, of beingness, of making sense, of walking though this this universe is telling me ’ve got to make this
And who am I to deny that feeling inside Arms, legs in the car for the length of the ride Buckle up cos this time we’re not letting it slide There’s a month of albums inside us

Great song. Impressive RAP, love the chorus.
You have excellent lyrical prowess as well! And your productions are good to boot! Here's to four more years!!
This was so good. Really inspiring to hear you so fired up. The confidence with which you rip through that rapped middle section was quite astonishing. Had a kinda ‘Lose Yourself’ sorta feel to it. Lose Yersel? Very good
It's like... the Scottish... Eminem... anthem... about FAWM. Incredible. The first line is such an intriguing hook. Love the internal rhymes, love "It’s just syllables what's all the worry." So many good lines, great build to the chorus. Just a banger (not a sausage) top to bottom.
Sounds great. Stay true to that accent. Excellent lyrics.
Yay for finding your muse again! I feel the same way after this FAWM 💚 Stereo in my headphones here is so effective!! Your vocals are perfect, love the harmonies!
So glad that you found your way back to music creativity, as your songwriting and voice are too good to be silenced.
This is a fab song. I'm not always a fan of rapped parts of songs but your rap and the authenticity of your accent made it perfect for the song. Favourite line - 'But fuck that, it’s my come back song'!
This is fabulous Rosie - and all that great production in the time! Your songs are always amazing. Glad you're regaining your self belief, and finding new energy for your songwriting. About time! lol. :-)
Wow - What a Come Back Song - this is incredible and so, so much in it. (Now you're back are we gonna do the write 20 songs in a day thing again lol?) Great lyrics - I love the 2nd verse and that line is so deep "All's not lost but the cost to blow out the flame is too much to pay". The harmonies in the chorus are divine and as the song builds there is such a sense of the depth and pain you have gone through and the battle at the deepest place of the soul and I have to stop and wonder at how you can create so much depth in a pop song, it is genius. "You don't know what it took for me to walk around the world without a beat". Strong emphasis on so I broke the silence. I had all sorts of emotions and pictures jumping around in me when I listened to this. It is POWERFUL and done in such a short time!!! As for the rap - it's fucking bloody brilliant!!! Love the way the music builds behind this and your Glaswegian accent comes through. Really hoping that you will release this.
Oh god, there you go again, being really bloody good. That backing track, bouncing between the ears is amazing.... And I am now mildly addicted to Scottish rap. Who knew? Ah. Top stuff as ever 🤩
The panning is awesome and look at you droppin bars again. This is siiiiiick.
@rosiebans you break your ban, you sparkle once again. Great '3 part' song with different musical themes brought together with a clear message. You are my Queen!
Wow! This sounds radio ready already! 🧐🤨🫨🥳🤩🥰 This is GREAT!!! So strong, really! High class!!! Was this clear enough? 😆 I mean everything. Lyrics, meaning, vocals, placement of backing vocals, instrumentation, chords progression, song evolution, arrangement and producing…. Now did I forget something? 🤔 Congratulations Well done Rosie!!!!
Daaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaang, gurl! I come by to check in on you and wow - just wow! You not only hit 14 but you reignited a flame that seemingly flickered out. Not so, though! Not so! This track is a-blaze and you're the arsonist. This is indeed an impressive track. I honestly can't contribute anything more. Wow. Well, there's that. 😀
