Hero
Liner Notes
@mdavisto says: This is #randomcollaborations Week 2. I was paired with @roxya who sent me some lovely vocals to work with. Annnnd somehow it went all #fuzz #indierock, with a bit of #fawmtronica also.
For the production nerds, this is stock FL Studio; the only additional plugin I'm using is Vital, which is the "guitars", essentially generated with saw waves and then shoved through Hardcore (distortion effect).
Thank you, @roxya, this was fun. #noai
@roxya: I had such a terrible time writing these lyrics, but once an idea gets a hold of me it won't let go. The pressure of getting something done for a collab really helped (It's true, I thrive under pressure. Which is why FAWM has been so great for me). Thanks @mdavisto, I've grown a bit more through this.
Lyrics
I used to seem so brave chasing dragons like there’s not another day I used to be so scared waving this sword like I just didn’t care
Truth is I just couldn’t bear I couldn’t stand running away
I’m not a hero you see I’m not here to fulfil your prophesy That trope’s been overdone Such stupid tales that you have spun
It’s not my destiny I won’t entertain your fantasy I’m not the chosen one I just chose not to run
I used to be so afraid fighting shadows till the storms would dissipate I used to seem so bold bathe in dark clouds till I was wrecked from the cold
Truth is I just couldn’t bear I couldn’t stand running away

I so agree that the prophecy's trope’s been overdone. Isn't it time children stories teach them they should write their own destiny ? Very nice production. This soft tone seems to say sorry to disapoint but the fuzz tells there's no negociation here. I love that you use fantasy litterature's code to confront one of its trope. #tit4tat
@roxya in your profile you said "Would ĺove to collaborate but I'm not so great with working with other people. We'll see," Well you did it and the result here is fantastic. Love that the lyrics reflect the challenge of fronting up because you choose not to run, youvè got to be brave ( your song "Who knoŵs" :) Gréat things have come of that - this song is amazing, great lyrics and @mdavisto your handling of them is wonderful. I love this song. Exceptional collab! #tit4tat
This is a nice combination of the two of you. It sounds like the big end credits song of some CG epic. The build is wonderful. This might be my favorite from you this year. Have to wait til I've listened to everything.
My goodness, what a killer vocal! Absolutely hook riddled track...the vocal, the instrumental solo. The kick into the chorus is FABULOUS! I love this from beginning to end.
I love the line "I just chose not to run" which has a quiet strength. This whole lyric reminds me of the saying that is essential, bravery is being scared and doing it anyway. This is a very good collaboration. I like it very much. The arrangement is great, the vocals are great, I love the lyric. It's very well produced. This is great.
I really like the chords you chose for the chorus. The dynamics in this song are great. The solo sections are enjoyable. I like the "rock" ending. Well done both!
Woah guys, what’s this if not the BEST RANDOM COLLAB I EVER HEARD?! gawd it’s EPIC, and it just keeps getting epicer (errrr more epic) as it goes on. I adore it, and am gonna be listening on repeat.. it’s chefs kiss Impeccable vox, lyrics and that production though! wipes sweat from brow
This is so epic and inspirational. I really like the message of the lyrics, delivered with a passionate vocal performance that is stunning. And the music soars just like it needs to, reinforcing that heroes are made, not born. Just lovely, on all counts.
That chorus is a great little uplift and I don't think I would've noticed the guitars weren't guitars without the liner notes. I really like the use of dynamics in this track.
Man, when that chorus vocal comes in! I am really enjoying this. Thoughtful lyrics, music is cool, this is wonderful!
Wow, I love this! The vocal is superb and it fits so perfectly with the chosen style and the lyrics. I mean, I could see someone having chosen to do a plaintive, minor key, acoustic ballad type treatment of these lyrics, but this nearly anthemic approach is so much more effective and feels like it was built for purpose. Really fantastic work and I'm going back for another listen. Applause!
Wow. What a great collab. Beautiful vocal and melody. I like the dynamic changes and how the sound builds the intensity through sections. Sweet solo. Nice! 🙌🎶
