liner

There are literal storms happening while I am putting this down. To me, to you, to us all. If there was a beacon of light in my life I would surely move toward it.

notes

This final demo is less than ideal, but not a bad ...fourth? take. I completely botch the bm on the second chorus and partially botch it on the third chorus. The solo is lackluster as well. Solid canvas backdrop here to work on though, so that's exciting. I told myself I wanted to write two song tonight (thanks fawm) so i gotta move it on.

Lyrics

[cp 3]

[v1] d c em in the sea of this life there's a line one of us crosses first and if you'r not here to guide me home then i'll be lost on the storm

[ verse solo] [ pc ] [ chorus ]

[v2] d c em my heart beats well past this stone when i see your face again that's how i'll know i'm home that's how i'll know i'm home

Another gorgeous song, this one feels so loving and tender even with that feeling of worry and loss. It’s so vulnerable to ask for what you need, and this song feels like it offers strength and courage yo do just that. And there’s a way that the song itself becomes that kind of beacon.

Great song and lyrics, love the chorus, so much to distract us, we need a guiding light now more than ever. Your vocals have a bit of an Eddie Vedder vibe about them. Sounds great 😎

Love the sound and feel of this. V2 is esp. terrific -- I'm intrigued by "my heart beats well past this stone". That was really striking. It had connotations for me of a gravestone, and maybe the partner had died first. Anyway, I like this song a lot!

Enjoyed this song. Your acoustic guitar playing works well and I really like your gravely folk-Americana vocal delivery. The chorus is particularly strong.

Outstanding, Lee. There's some nice movement in this chord progression and top line that really helps deliver your lyrics. In spite of the one tiny chord flub, this is one of my favorite of your performances. The key is in your wheelhouse and the vocal really shines. There's a classic folk singer-songwriter vibe that you've captured just perfectly. Don't lose this one.
