mind after midnight

by @mahtowin · @ttg105

Liner Notes

The lyrics are the result of a nearly sleepless night and a late night/Dinnertime conversation with Paul Pennyfeather!

While I was singing to this bass driven beast there were howling creatures and beasts outside my house! It was really dangerous to record this song! Have this in mind when you listen!

Lyrics

----------////--------------

It's one of those things with simultaneity/Mind after Midnight

It's well past midnight I'm still awake Sleep is out of the question!

I toss and turn And then get up To distract myself.

I'm hungry too! It's rumbling in my stomach! I stand at the window and look out...

That's one of those things about simultaneity, I think as I stare sleeplessly out into the snow... Is on the other side of the world The clock iset for dinner!

It's well past midnight...

A journey through time begins in my mind! I live in the future! My today is your tomorrow And somewhere in the world This is also turned upside down And someone lives in my tomorrow And me in the past!

Yes, it's a simultaneity thing!

It's well past midnight...

Wow oh wow, glad I came in here (behind the wolfproof window of course). This would give any one chills in a dark movie theatre, never mind what language the lyrics were in. Some things are universal!

the sounds of the children of the night accompany mahtowns recitation as pennyfeather carries on with his bass and percussion cutting through the darkness. spooky sound from the forest of folk horror.

I feel the menace right from the start. There's real intensity here. Love it: the drums, bass, guitar, vocals, howling, whispering. Wow! It's great how the drums drop out. There's so much barely restrained intensity here. What if it went double time and got even louder and punker? I'm glad I found my way back here. Definitely one of my favs from the month. Meow!

It sounds dangerous and suspenseful. Great vibe all throughout with the combination of near-whispered vocals and howls and droning bass. Very atmospheric!

Dark and fun, the howls give a vibe of release and excitement!

Love the howling and the Joy Division vibe in this one, it really calls to the wild self in me! The poised singing while the instruments paint the dangerous atmosphere is killer. It kinds of says we're in a hurry, but everything is under control. Excellent song!

This sounds dangerous…Dangerously good!

Wow. This is such a great vibe and late night groove. I can imagine the Schwäbischen Alb being the perfect setting for wolves running through the dark forest on a moonlit night.

A great journey! Who's breathing down my spine? From all directions?

Ah her3 we are again, I have a howl in my right ear! Classic ttg percussion drives it along! You almost whispered vocal really adds to the effect ( Oo it’s snuck to my left ear) like this!

Oh, this is it! I love it! This song and the sounds you're using are so lovely. And the fact that it's sang in German--even better. Nice work guys! I do love a good howwwllllll! 🤪

Gotta love the title and the conditions under which this song came to be. So delicious with headphones! Awesome collab - keep it up!

I looove this, so my thing. The whispery growl vocals and the background panting really add to the howls and atmosphere. I can see this also screamed from a black stage, with the audience howling along! But mostof all I love the bass. Reminds me of the best gigs I've ever seen.

Love the driving bass, so saturated and fuzz driven. The drums and organ sounds are great and the production is very good. Thanks for posting the translation of the lyrics and your liner notes. Wish I could get up and do something else when I can sleep, but I don’t and then get up early as usual, and drag my tired self through the day.

I am so glad I am listening with headphones - love the production. The vocalizations are so cool and used well throughout the song. The style and tone of this song kind of sounds like the intrusive and persistent voice in my head when I am trying to sleep - great prosody. Love that driving bass and drum track - it ups the intensity. Great vocals and backing vocals. This is hella creative and so cool to listen to. Great collab!
