FAWM 2025 / Song 10

Here are more lyrics written during 50/90 in 2024, probably for a skirmish prompt, but the music didn’t happen until today.

Lyrics

Nothing’s ever new, Announced the hiker to the hill If I don’t push this boulder, baby Someone else will And the rabbit pauses in the grass To twitch as I pass by I wish somebody’d lift my gaze, Remind me of the sky

CHORUS: The green, the gold, the rainbow Of the mica in the stone Everybody’s colors looking for a home Landed on this spinning rock, Might not be quite alone The green, the gold, the rainbow Of the mica in the stone

Everything is new, I heard the mountain tell the sea Just one pebble shifts, One flower blooms alongside me But the ants, they keep on crawling With their finite kind of dreams Nobody inside can step out, That’s the way it seems

CHORUS

They’re trying hard to make machines To solve the puzzle of our math The way we sometimes catch each other’s eye — And have to laugh

The wind is in the aspens now Not quite whisper, not quite roar I’m sitting in it, thinking of you, Like that’s what this sunshine is for

CHORUS

I love the idea of celebrating mica for being what it is instead of blaming it for not being gold. It’s great to hear your voice. Hope you’re feeling better.

Yay, music for lyrics I was fond of last year! The sound you have here brings out the sense of wonder in the words. Beautiful.

Beautiful sounding uke and vocal. Nice melody with this poetic lyric. 🙌🎶

I spent a good portion of my listen/view admiring your strumming and chording technique. So I went back and gave a second listen - what wonderful poetry, and you seem to really be enjoying your singing and playing. Love it!

This is a delightful lyric and an even more delightful melody. Great stuff!

The high notes shine in this melody. I love the last section of lyrics so much “ The wind is in the aspens now Not quite whisper, not quite roar I’m sitting in it, thinking of you, Like that’s what this sunshine is for”

Finite kind of dreams is a great line. I somehow latched on to that :) Wonderful melody and feeling on this song. Happy thoughts and happy feelings!

I love this one! Such a cool tune, and it showcases your high notes really well. The lyrics are thoughtful and cheerful at the same time, that's hard to pull off. Beautiful chorus, too, with all the color imagery. I wave at your cats sleeping in the background! They seem so content. 😄

Yep, love this too... led me off to your youtube ... listening to TS covers now :-)

I'm a big production guy too, but I started as an acoustic singer-songwriter back in the 70s... so now I force myself to do acoustic one takes on FAWM (I'd never get enough done otherwise) ... this year I'm LOVING doing it this way... And now you're making me want to get a Uke!

I love the simplicity of this, being a BIG production guy I really admire folks that can just get a uke out and play a song.
