Just One More

Liner Notes

Seems like something/someone I care about is always ending. I am not fond of endings. So why do I write songs about them? Working through it somehow? I dunno.

Just One More February 25, 2025 https://johnstaplesmusic.com/FAWM2025/JohnStaples-JustOneMore.mp3

just one more sip of that coffee just one more taste of that pie just one more minute with everyone in it no reason to even ask why no reason to even ask why

just one more look at that sunset just one more gaze at that sky just one more hour to pick pretty flowers before it all fades out of sight before it all fades out of sight

is it too much to ask for the good times to last must everything end here today with a little more time we can calm our wild minds please do not take us away

just one more embrace from my lover just one more cuddle at night just one more day to live, love and play before we all kiss this goodbye before we all kiss this goodbye

Love everything about this song, the universal sentiment that you've expressed wonderfully, the evocative lyrics and your voice. Kudos 🙇‍♀️

Beautiful lyrics, of love and loss. Stunningly simple, and simply stunning.

Some of my favourite times are listening to songs that have an air of melancholy, and capture those themes of love and love.

This would be right in the mix... #tit4tat

beautiful theme on living life deliberately and peacefully, cos we never know when our number is up (or how). I've probably lived like this since burying my sister back in 1998, but more so, since I healed from it (the best I could)

you've captured a stunning simplity of how to live a good life before the eternal goodbye - bravo sir

Fantastic melody... especially the so very catchy musical phrase in the middle of the verses... ie: "just one more minute with everyone in it" Lovely topic and so well written and sung... radio ready music that everyone will relate to. I aslo like the minimal number of instruments because it sounds like you performing at some venue with another musicain or two. I guess I'm saying it's wonderfully rustic and sounds kinda live..

A great meditation on a theme that means a lot to me - never knowing when it's the last time you're going to do a thing. Beautifully done.

Right on the nose. Any loss is tragic, and difficult to navigate, drunk drivers, divorce, in their own ways. Out of your hands but needing to adjust and make sense of it.Situations that seem senseless are very difficult to understand. Well thought out and played.

@wynia

You’ve written a universal lament here, but because of how the music hits, it’s still hopeful and appreciative even at the end of something beautiful. There are a few interesting chord changes in here, always cool to hear twists like that. Great listen 💚

@dhiatt

Right? Why does it have to like that? It's such a human experience and instinct to express it, which you've done beautifully in words and music. Really enjoy the chord choices.

@sbs

You've captured the idea well. Gave me something to think about - the things I have no problem ending and the things I hang onto longer than I should. Interesting. This line stood out - "calm our wild minds" - if only - lol!

This is a great song that draws you in to sing along with and does have an emotional pull to it that is enhanced by the smooth rhythm and vocals. I think a second voice with a harmony line would be lovely here too.

I like how well produced this track is, how good the guitars sound, and how well-balanced all the elements are. They are a warm, calm support for your evocative voice. The internal rhymes and alliteration help the lines to flow in a way that seems effortless. The line, "Just one more minute with everyone in it" speaks deeply to me (as I live far from most family).

this can be taken in many ways....losing it all..from a way of life to life itself. i thing up toa certain point, life is all about growing and after that, its all about decay. excellent music and delivery and the lyrics sit right as the story unfolds in our heads.

I think this is even more dark than the others. this has a heavy emotional pull is pretty sad. lovely music to soften the blow especially that guitar.

The guitar is just lovely. Really lost myself listening to this one.
