Coffee Contemplation (An Hour Past Myself)

Liner Notes
Nancy: We've been planning to do a collaboration all month, but I've been leaving it for the last minute. The universe gave me a little extra nudge by pairing me with @kc_ for the final round of random collaborations. I loved this lyric about the importance of carving out time for yourself in order to be there for the rest of the world. I'm not sure which title is better for it "Coffee Contemplation" or "An Hour Past Myself"
KC: I would vote for "An Hour Past Myself"! So good to have Nancy pick up the lyrics... As @richaaaay said, I too love the simplicity of vox/guit... Love the morning quiet and this pretty much captures it for me, Nancy has such feel for a melody that let's the song wash over the listener! Thanks @nancycunning !
Lyrics
Snow left town, not a bank around, Life began to swoon Morning rays crawl through the trees into our bedroom
Few grey coals left in the stove, so it's comfortable to touch Brew the grind, my busy mindLoves this time so much
A coffee contemplation I take my journal from the shelf I’ll be open for the rest of the day At one hour past myself Oooooh
Looking toward the meadow, the first blue jay of spring I write Feb 22nd sitting in thearborvitae king
A small explosion of striking color, like no one else’s ever seen Brilliant blue, black and white, against the muted evergreen
A coffee contemplation With my journal off the shelf I’ll be open for rest of the day At one hour past myself Oooooh
Every kingdom's standing quiet, all with empty crowns Waiting for the budding on every branch from tip to ground
Hear a stir, not from my cup Cock my head and wait Feet falling to the floor Time to open for the day
I've had my coffee contemplation I can put my journal back on it's shelf I’ll stay open for the rest of the day Now it's an hour past myself
A coffee contemplation With my journal off the shelf I’ll be open for rest of the day At one hour past myself Oooooh

Love the voice and how it dances with the guitar.
Love this line: Every kingdom's standing quiet, all with empty crowns Waiting for the budding on every branch from tip to ground
Such a sweet, cozy and inviting song. The essence of “hygge,” if you remember that trend. (A trend here, a norm elsewhere. 😄) I especially liked the phrase “At one hour past myself.”
An Hour Past Myself..for sure. I would have listened to this song long ago had you titled it that. the chorus is brilliant and the long lines of the verses are delightful the way nancy sings them.
The vocal melody wends its way to its destination unhurriedly with the gentle accompaniment as its fellow traveler, and I love the chord change at the chorus.
although I am not a "morning person " I do prefer to start the day in contemplation, when I can.
Such a sweet, sweet song. The guitar and vocals are simple but welcoming and comforting. The lyrics feel familiar and clever. An hour past myself is genius. Well done!
You have entwined two experiences I do adore. Time to myself in the morning and the coming of Spring. Nancy's beautiful playing and sweet vocals express the perfect mood for the theme. Very nice all around!
Nice theme, and perfect turn of words on "hour past myself". Like the scene of pulling down a journal, and then re-visiting it to put it back up. I can relate to wanting to have time to oneself in the morning to prepare for the day. Well done.
This has such a nice mellow vibe that would be great for morning contemplation. The vocal, melody and acoustic guitar blend well together. Love the line: One hour past myself!
yes lovely idea one hour past myself. time for repose and contemplation. we don't have blue jays in the UK but I'm always waiting for our (European) blackbirds to start singing to remind us of Spring. the song has a gorgeous soft feel which I listened to a few times. excellent.
The panning here makes me feel like I'm sitting in the room while you both are having a songwriting session. And yea the world can absolutely wait until I've had that morning brew.
I love the idea that the whole world can wait until you spend an hour with yourself and your coffee in the morning. Pretty!!
Being an avid coffee addict, the title drew me in. I do so love this time of year and I think the song captures this spirit so well. Birds and humans, buds and branches, all coming back to life. Very nice vibe...
I already expressed my compliments to Kevin for these relatable lyrics. So glad to hear them come to life with Nancy's rendition. I'm a fan of the simple one + one songs. If it holds together in its simplest form, which this does, it's a winner! Nice work...Love hearing the creaking chair too.
How nice ! Such a peaceful song and perfect to listen to in the morning before the day really starts. As it was already said in the comments, "an hour past myself" is a beautiful line.
