The Chicken

by @darcistrutt

Liner Notes

I put out a request for ideas. Granddaughter Gwen wrote back: a song about chicken that wants to be a duck. Short and sweet. There you have it. #FUC #ukulele #children

Lyrics

There was a chicken that wanted to be duck She thought it boring only to cluck The chickens and ducks shared similar locations But the ducks had more flamboyant conversations

She snuck out of the coop one night Before the famer locked it tight When she saw the hawks flying high She thought she was about to die

So that chicken that wanted to be duck Was more grateful for her birth luck Though in that chicken coop out back You would sometimes hear her shout a quack

A chicken who wanted to be a duck is a great idea. Hope your granddaughter loves it.

Delightful and creative! I love the ideas of children and this is sweet and deep. Wonderful and insightful perspective. Fabulous delivery!

It's tough to get a concept that will make an engaging children's song. This one works well, following the example of Hans Christian Andersen's "The Ugly Duckling" but in a different part of the barnyard. I love the line that says "the ducks had more flamboyant conversations".

Can't wait to share this with Gwen! Is that @dawnsoap singing those beautiful harmonies?? Love the playful lyrics and sweet delivery. Great rolling melody too! Perfect ending :)
