Lyrics
Fitful slumber interrupted Brain still foggy But I swear I just heard Knocking at my front door
Who on earth could it be It’s not quite quarter to three
Surely nobody would be coming around This time of night?
Maybe just a distressed neighbor Or someone traipsing in their sleep But a newfound fear grips me Could it be the secret police?
(spooky solo breakdown)
I freeze in horror Wait to hear if it happens again (knock knock) Do I dare move a muscle Or utter a peep?
I know they’ve just got to be watching They’ve surely read what I think
But that sort of thing can’t happen here - right?
Trembling I creep downstairs slowly Dreading my imminent fate I reach the darkened front room Oh no it’s…just the stupid tortoise!
This time, anyway…

Super cool call and response. And most of all I enjoyed the organ stabs in-between vert dramatic
Wow, if Vincent Price had a 70's glam rock band? I guess it would be close to this. This is just awesome, the riffage, the story, I love those synths and organ that come in, and your vocals especially!
I, uh...I...hmmm. Not really sure how to begin this. Ok, so this is pants-kicking and I'm making "that face". I'm getting flashes of Screamin' Jay Hawkins and some Vincent Price-like vibes. And then that guitar solo. Todd - we gotta talk, man. We really do. YOU need to show me some things. And while we're at it...maybe we'll land on that tortoise situation you got goin' on your mental real estate. This joint rocks.
You know the tortoise always wins in the end. This is expertly done, musically awesome and does a great job building tension and intrigue. Love the organ (?) farts.
Like deep purple meets king crimson… love this, Todd!
I don’t trust those tortoises! They are silent but deadly! A dark song about tortoises well you certainly got that at the epic level!
But who is the tortoise working for? :)
Love the organ work in this (very 70's 'ELP' rock sound to me) and catchy guitar riff that binds the song together.
