I saw this skirmish and thought I'd get in on it. I have been writing really quickly this year and this one came very quickly after getting the words together. I came up with a little pretty run on the guitar and ad libbed the vocals once I had a little melody. I surprised myself with how nice this came out!

This is loosely around universal and elemental imagery with the last short verse outro thing being about the asteroid dubbed 'City Killer' which we recently found out wasn't going to smash into the Earth in 2032. Phew! Well, there is a 0.0027% chance. (Or 1 in 37,000 which was easier to sing!)

Lyrics

A twitch of the taut string, that only now barely connects us, informs you of my latest whereabouts, Broadcasting my objections, Projecting my intentions, All within your web.

These feelings, Left over from a better time, Float up to the surface, Blink into the sunlight, Sneak up to the forefront, To catch me unawares. Rare and mysterious, Isn’t it obvious? I’m abundant and everywhere, Stable and ordinary, Run of the mill.

There’s a 1 in 37,000 chance, I’m not a betting man, But I think we’ll be ok.

OMG, I'm not sure what to say. I was totally lost in the listen. The music and vocals are soft and beautiful. Gives me a heartfelt feeling. The lyrics seem sad, but then the end seems happy. I hope I read that right. Very lovely song! #tit4tat

Just a drop of harmonica, but is spices the whole song. It feels like a back-to-life after-a-breackup song11. Light, fragile and hopefull. #tit4tat

Oooh harmonies! Who doesn't love that. Love your vocal delivery, soft, sweet emotive. And I am a sucker for an acoustic guitar song. #tit4tat

Lovely harmonies AGAIN! Love the swelling instrumentation and harmonica as the chorus comes. Very gentle and pleasant and hopeful in the fact of a possible disaster. Great note to end it on! #tit4tat

I really liked the chord progression at the beginning, and was really hoping that the vocal would blend well with the instrumentation and compliment it. I wasn't disappointed! The vocal melody is interesting too. Did you sing those harmonies or is that a vst? Either way they sound great!

Gonna check out more of your stuff! #tit4tat

Man, I could listen to you sing the phone book. This was just lovely, truly. The harmonica was such a perfect choice. Harmonies on point. Lyrics are clever and enticing. Very well done.

This is an absolute gem. I love the finger picking style. I wasn't expecting this sound when I read the title. I love the blend of lyric and melody especially top of the second verse. The song has a universality to it. I could easily hear this in a film.

That’s one helluv an adlib! Some thought provoking imagery accompanied by that gentle guitar picking makes this a really enjoyable song to listen to. Your vocals were perfect to carry the message.

Beautiful, poetic imagery. I love 'the twitch of a taught string that barely connects us' and all the metaphors for thoughts / feelings emerging into consciousness. To me the lyrics speak of elemental humanness (carbon?) that underlies the digital world we've superimposed.

The melody here is so so good. Im not a betting man, but i think we’ll be ok is such a nice way to end this as well. Great skirmish!

Love that voice. Little bit of echo pedal?

"Feelings left over from a better time" is an awesome line.
