Choose Love

Liner Notes
Sapient: I love it when @metalfoot writes me some words, as they are never the kind of thing I would manage to put together for myself. The message in this one is heartfelt and one I fully support. I had an interesting time exploring how best to bring it to life, and figured that few others might do what I decided to do to end it...

metalfootnotes: Always fun to see what @sapient comes up with when we do a song together. I didn't know if I'd get oldschool Sapient or dance-pop Sapient but I was not disappointed!
Lyrics
There's a lot of darkness Inside the human heart I know, I see it in myself There's a lot of bitterness That life can make you feel I know, I've got a full shelf
Still when it comes down to it There's a good way to see through it
Always better to compliment than insult Always better to be kind than throw stones Always better to show love than hatred Let caring go deep into your bones
There's a lot of bad intentions Among the big and rich I know, I've seen it all around There's a lot of craziness That life can make you feel I know, but still this truth I've found
That when it comes down to it There's a better way to do it
Always better to compliment than insult Always better to be kind than throw stones Always better to show love than hatred Let caring go deep into your bones
Choose kindness Choose love Choose hopefulness Choose love

those singing lessons have really opened up your style, and this is an excellent display of your many talents welded together for a prog-metal feast of smooth vocals and heavy distorted guitar. the outro is a nod to the sapient we have known and loved in the past and who still rules (but i admit i am more drawn to the crooner in you).
I love this so much! It's everything I enjoy about both of your songcraft in one place. 😀
Wow it feels like the overlapping Venn diagram for Metalfoot and Sapient just got a little bigger. Tender message and powerful delivery. Awesome.
Great message to this song. I love the transition from verse to chorus, very dramatic and effective. And then that sweet, almost dreamy instrumental break adds a great touch. The full on metal ending is also great, especially coming after the more melodic elements. We definitely need people to hear the message to this one. Keep it up, guys! #tit4tat
I like the way "I know, I've got a full shelf" frames that darkness/bitterness that we have, and the pre-chorus does a great job of getting us to the chorus both musically and conceptually. Impressive ending, too.
Wow! This is such great writing and an amazing performance!
This was giving old school Metallica vibes for me. The energy of the chorus is what makes it my favorite part, particularly the harmonies. The coda has great energy as well.
It's a battle of the bands, within a song, except they are all getting along nicely and being polite. Such a great mix of everything. Lyric, chill, hard, soft, loud. Loved it!
It's like Ozzy has written a heart warming song. And then Slayer sneaks in at the end to join the session.
I hear a lot of different things in this song. The guitars are great. Those barely restrained chunk guitars are the tasty cherry atop the banana split. Then the erm.. outro effing rocks!
