Singer. Songwriter. Producer. Guitar Player. Bass Player. Background Vocal Arranger. Recording Engineer. Mastering Engineer. Top Liner. Collaborator. (Feel free to hit me up!)
Always open for a collaboration! Drop me a note and let's make it happen!
I guess with all of the AI stuff going around I should clarify that I am actually playing and singing on all my songs in my home studio in real time (albeit in multiple takes) and my drums are most often EZ Drummer. I do tend to move pretty quick with a project, but probably mostly due to the fact that I used to run a pro studio for about 7 years and I got into the habit of working fast! Most often I will get the basic idea down and then come back later and refine the heck out of it! I do utilize ChatGPT with lyrical help sometimes (lyrics are probably my weak point). So I am not anti AI and don’t mind at all if YOU use it! If it sounds good it is good!

Thanks for the listen and comment on our collab You Can Breathe When You are Free. Much appreciated
Hi, Mark, Thanks for your comments on Our Own Private Love Song with @blainev83 and for sticking around and also listening to No Present Like The Time, with @gwyn. I liked your comment about "George Jones Lives!" Very nice to hear you enjoyed both songs.
@robherron1 Thanks, yeah 14+ just kinda happened! Last year didn’t make it anywhere close! Someone else had mentioned that “The Wrecking Ball” title has been used by others. I actually used it for my son’s as kind of a “joke” to refer to me taking his great guitar riff (The Bigsby Stuff) and totally mutilating his original vibe! I actually originally called the “Dad’s Wrecking Ball” when I sent it back to him. He actually has never commented on it. Don’t think he cares for it much. Hahaha!😂
Hi Mark! Congrats on creating 14+ songs. Thanks for your thoughtful comments on my morph3 song. I see you have a song The Wrecking Ball...haven't listened yet...but the fact you used that title made me laugh. I know there's at least 3 well-known songs with that title, so it's been on my list to use title too.
Thanks for checking out true believer! I love the morph challenge it always takes some interesting twists and turns
Thanks a lot! I will check the morph chain at the beginning if March to make sure that I listen to them all!
@doug52 I certainly will, got the lyrics pulled up now in the studio. Let' see what happens!
Great! Please keep me in the loop!
@doug52 I will try them on for size! Thanks for the inspiration! I like what I see so far, now to get in the studio and see what happens!
Thanks for the spin, and kind words on "No Guarantees - (Fake It Challenge)" - it was a fun challenge!
Here is a start to "Lookin' Up!" Look it over, tear it apart if you feel the need and we will take it from there.
LOOKIN’ UP
[Verse 1] Thunder rolling, shaking the ground, Lightning striking, but I won’t back down. Heavy rain, the road fights back, But I keep moving and stay on track.
[Pre-Chorus] Every time they try to break me, Every time they push me down, I rise stronger, burning brighter, They can’t stop me now.
[Chorus] Lookin’ up, lookin’ over, Standing tall, standing free. I took the fall, but I recovered, Now, the fire burns in me.
Lookin’ up, no longer down, got my hands on the wheel. Took control, I’m never stoppin’, I know exactly how it feels.
[Verse 2] The world keeps turning, storms still rage, But I refuse to be afraid. I’m a fighter, I’m a warrior, Ain’t no chains gonna hold me back.
Every storm feeds my fire, Every fall, another climb. Watch me rise, watch me conquer, Taking back what’s truly mine!
[Bridge] No more shadows, no more chains, Chasing dreams, I’ve found my way. Rise with the dawn, the world is mine, I’m taking it all, one step at a time!
[Final Chorus] Lookin’ up, lookin’ over, No more doubts inside of me. Every fight has made me bolder, Now, I own my destiny.
Lookin’ up, no longer down, Ain’t no storm that I can’t beat. On my path, the fire’s burning, And it’s rising underneath!
[Outro] Lookin’ up, lookin’ up, Ain’t no giving up. Lookin’ up, lookin’ up, Feel the fire, I’m lookin’ up!
Thanks Mark for your very nice comments on several of my songs. I value your insights and am so glad that you appreciate my efforts. I love what I’ve listened to of yours and will send additional comments. Thanks again!
@russkeys Hahaha! I hear ya! That’s one of those things that’s sometimes hard to know how far to carry something! I usually end up saying “What the heck! Let’s have some fun with it!” Sometimes to others chagrin! Still fun though! Many blessings my friend!
Thanks, Mark for your encouraging comments on the FakeIt challenge. I thought you took it to a whole new level. I wanted to change more chords but thought it wasn't in keeping with the challenge. But I love the idea of reharmonizing the tune and updating the lyrics. Next time I'll be more bold.
Mark, Thanks for your enthusiasm for One Last Shot At Redemption, my collab with @bethkille. She is SO great to work with and I love everything she does! Glad you enjoyed it, too.
@intoyourlight Look forward to hearing your MORPH! Blessings!
Thank you! I'll work on the song this week :)
Thanks, Mark. Happy to help.
Thank you for the comment and for listening to 'down by the gate'. We had a lot of fun making the song. I'll let my daughter know that you enjoyed it. She'll be thrilled to hear the compliment 😀
Hi, Thanks for following and for listening to a couple of the songs and leaving your comments. That's great.
Well a got nothin' today. There it is. Maybe tomorrow.
Thanks for listening to Mountain. Glad you like it.
hey, thanks for much for listening and your feedback on 'Catwalk Anthology'!
@davidtaro oh yeah! Boston’s Tom Scholz vibes! Such a cool story about him and his little basement recording studio!
Hi Mark! Thanks for checking out that collab with Bill, really appreciate it. And always lovely to come across a fellow UA devotee. I basically want to make most of my tracks sound like they were recorded in a scuzzy 70s basement studio, which their stuff is surprisingly good for 😆
@nadine No problem….makes perfect sense. Blessings!
Thank you! I'm happy you enjoyed "Caioneag". Yes, there's a lot of stuff happening intentionally. To create that mystical entrancing feeling it has to be overlength, and I also added the dissonances that were requested in the comments. As for collab, I wanted to keep the mystical Gaelic vibe. The only addition I can imagine is a dreamy vocal in one of these languages. I see a more female voice... maybe because that deathly spirit is female? Thanks for your offer!
@hbusse Perfectly said! Couldn't agree more! Life is messy and He is big enough for it all!
Thanks Mark! So glad you enjoyed "Full of Yourself"! And thanks for bringing up our shared faith. Yep, for myself as an artist, I definitely hope that my faith in Jesus flows through and influences whatever I write, whether the songs are explicitly "Christian" or not... because it's about the way I see the whole world and all my relationships and interactions within it. Definitely DOESN'T mean that everything I write will be neat, pretty, and happy... in fact, I hope my music bears witness that lament, confusion, and messiness are part of the spiritual journey, and that's normal and okay, and God is big enough to hold it all. :) Great to connect with you!
@metalfoot Gotcha! So maybe a kinda broke the spirit of the challenge a bit with my lyrical and chord alterations. Oops! Not my intention for sure. I think maybe I'm too forest-y and not tree-y enough! I need to learn to be more tree-y! I think I hear a song calling! Hahaha!
Thanks for listening to uʍop ǝpᴉsdn. Glad you like it. https://www.upsidedowntext.com/ 😄
It was the version of the song that I took the melody away from and wrote down the chords for. As I note in the challenge there's no 'definitive' version. It's an exercise in melody creating and arrangement for the participants!
Thank you so much for your kind words and for listening to my stuff, Mark! I also am always excited to collaborate, albeit a little swamped with life this February. So yes, let's connect. And no, I didn't play instruments on my cover album... That marvel on both piano and guitar is my guitar teacher who helped with the record. Happy FAWM!
"Hey there! Thanks for following! I have returned the favor and THEN I went listened to several tunes of “Covered In Love” on Apple Music! Oh my goodness girl! You sing beautifully! Is that you playing piano on most of those? Anyway, really enjoyed listening to your music! Hope I get to hear some of your creations here and I’m always up for a collaboration! Blessings!"
Hi, Mark! So glad you enjoyed Winds of Indifference, my collab with @housewystan. I thought she absolutely nailed it, vocally and musically, and that is so rewarding for me as a lyricist-only. I agree with you that her vocals are just perfect for the song. Appreciate your support. Thanks!
@hbusse I will have to check out Spitfire LABS then huh? Thanks for sharing! Blessings!
Thanks for the nice comment about Lock and Key!
Thanks for the kind words on Kids.
Hi, Mark, Thanks for checking out Love Isn't Any Fun, and for the nice compliment! You are a class act, and I was pleased to be able to work with you. Glad you liked this collab, as well. Thanks.
Thanks for the listens and comments! Yep, Spitfire LABS is a free VST with a whole library of great free sounds! Recommend 😊
I would love for you to give a try at Wake Up
Thank you for your inspiring comment on "Daydream actors"! It's probably not the sexiest wombat I can do ;-)! Quite the balancing act I had to do there.
Hey Mark, many thanks for your encouraging comments on 7th Heaven & Sixth Sense! I’m going to try and push through and turn them into full arrangements.
Mark Really enjoyed our collaboration. You created a fantastic song with some really cool changes! I'm currently working on my vocal mix, My vocals were too loud. I'll have the new mix up really soon for Lightning, Thunder. Cheers!
I have really been loving and appreciating your comments! And I'm glad you found me on Apple music. Cry Now is my most recent solo release and it's probably my favorite production I've done. I've been really enjoying that cinematic singer songwriter production style soooo hopefully I can woman up and get a whole collection together that is in that style. I was actually thinking about using whatever songs end up being my fav from this fawm to produce after fawm ends and use for my next album project which will hopefully include Cry Now. Anyway - open to suggestion about all of it!
Thanks so much for the kind words and encouragement on "You and Me and Our Wicked Ways."
Thank you so much for your comment on "Whispers in the Night"!
@greengrassgirl Patty it was truly a pleasure! Yep, if I got an idea it usually goes pretty quick! Then I come back later and labor over the fine details! Hahaha! This was a fun one for sure!
Hi, Mark, Thanks again for making Seventeen Again come to life! Besides enjoying how easily we worked together, I was delighted with how quickly this went from a lyric to a fun song! Thanks!
Hi Mark, thanks for your kind comment on my time machine song. I checked out your songs, was impressed, and look forward to hearing more!
Thanks for the comment on my morph song!
