I Am a Survivor

by @andrea

There is no demo for this song.

Liner Notes

A downer with a strong spark of hope. I imagine a slower pace with a chorus that comes alive.

Happy to hear ideas for improvement. Thanks :)

Lyrics

V1 Standing at your grave site I am fearful and cold You weren't supposed to leave me I'm just eighteen years old

V2 The world is a monster I will now face alone But I have your love inside my heart And your strength inside my bones

Chorus I am a survivor I'm ready to fight Dark times lay ahead But my will burns bright I am a survivor And I'm ready to fight With an angel watching over me I know I'll be alright

V3 Silent tears sting my eyes As I resolve to go Heading off towards my future Down an uncharted road

V4 Mistakes they may find me With every wrong turn But I will keep (on) growing stronger With every lesson I learn

Chorus I am a survivor I'm ready to fight Dark times lay ahead But my will burns bright I am a survivor And I'm ready to fight With an angel watching over me I know I'll be alright

Bridge You were my nest and oak tree My sanctuary My river and compass Always guiding me And every heartfelt stitch In our woven tapestry All of these things All these memories (optional L7 or L8) Live on in me

Chorus I am a survivor I'm ready to fight Dark times lay ahead But my will burns bright I am a survivor And I'm ready to fight With an angel watching over me I know I'll be alright

A song of grief but equally of determination, a survivor well able to identify the source of strength that will enable them "And every heartfelt stitch in our woven tapestry All these things All these memories Live on in me" They do! Beautifully expressed.. Great to listen to the collab that brought music to this too :) Go well! #tit4tat

A sad but hopefull song ! I love the line : "You were my nest and oak tree " because nest are in oak trees and it showed me you miss someone at different level at the same time.

Really nice set of lyrics--definitely needs a singer to cover, as the other commenters agree. ❤️

This deserves to be set to music, Andrea, but I don't think I can convincingly pull off a sound that will be accepted as sixteen years old. Hopefully someone else will come by and suit the lyrics.

Alright - the chorus at the end definitely elevates the mood/spirit. I’m finding quite a few lyrics and songs that are fused with a rather gloomy subject matter, but no sense of hope. Maybe for some there isn’t any. In this case, I appreciate the bridge and the chorus affirming it. It reminds me of Stevie Wonder’s song, These Three Words. The bridge that ties back to the chorus nearly brings me to tears every single time. Very nice write, Andrea. It’s powerful.

Holy Shamoly! GREAT WRITE! WoW! Like this a lot, love the meter/pacing, evertything, immediately relatable. Can't wait to hear it! Swimmin' in the deep end!

Wow, Andrea - this one definitely sings right off the page. I made a scratch recording of the way I was hearing it tonight. I love the rhythm and the energy the rhythm gives the words.

Great and uplifting lyric full of determination and positivism against the trials and tribulations that may lie ahead!

Really nice! I especially like how you used the word "nest" in the Bridge.

It is a very well made, good lyric. Hopefully turned into a complete song.

Solid first line and verses and such a tight chorus!

Powerful words Andrea. Well crafted and clear in their message. Maybe filled with hope but the sorrow is more clear. A resolve to soldier on but still a heavy mourning. Made me sad.. 😔
