The world is going to hell (we're all f*cked)

Liner Notes

Val asked if I wanted a backing track. I asked for one with really easy guitar so that if it turned out well (as songs written with her tend to) I could play it with my band. She send me some old school #riotgrrrl gold, and I shouted some #nihilistic crap over it. WIN! #nsfw #punk

Lyrics

Can't believe it Can't believe it Can't believe it Oh no

I tried ignoring it Tried ignoring it But I find I still Wanna know

I can't stop looking though it's giving me nightmares Just keep reading Some more

Wish I could just Wish I could just Wish I could just Let go

The world is going to hell And I can't stop it World is going to hell We're all fucked

Can't do anything Can't do anything Can't do anything At all

They try to make us think Try to make us think Try to make us think It's our fault

All the energy saving and domestic recycling One by one We're too small

While governments And businesses Don't give a shit At all

The world is going to hell And I can't stop it World is going to hell We're all fucked

I wanna live in a world That cares I wanna live

The world is going to hell And I can't stop it World is going to hell We're all fucked

The world is going to hell And I can't stop it World is going to hell We're all fucked

PS - wait, Val, as in @val who writes and sings amazing country songs???? If Val can do stuff like this, maybe I can too someday...Thanks for that inspiration too.

What a good idea...I especially like your description of wanting it to be simple enough to play with the band. I love the energy and simplicity and the words too. Anybody can understand it and shout along, even if they get all of your words, they can make some up of their own that'll also right - but again there's this feeling of being in it together. Maybe also the depression that leads to anger that leads to getting up and getting something done. I often think marching has had it's day. Maybe the protest RAVE is the right 21st Century format..

@audrey

What a great lyric expressing exactly how I feel these days. Sung with commitment. This is some high energy greatness.

Nihilistic rap? Okay if you say so!! Still, nihilistic crap seems to be burying us right now in a large and very deep crock of shit. So crap is the new reality, that's right. And this from you two could be our fast last anthem. EDIT jsut spotted @karan 's comment. Being lazy weary and crap-laden, I'll just say: "what she said"!

🀘🀘YESSSSSS🀘🀘 Perfect in attitude, volume and intensity. This song was so cathartic for me. I’ve been over here using my acoustic guitar as therapy and what I really needed was this! Thank you both for this awesome expression of all things punk. Just hearing about this song made me write two of my own potential GDJ songs, so THANKS for the inspiration!! πŸŽΆπŸŽ΅πŸ–€

@karan

Oh WOW! Both the music and the lyrics pretty much reflect how I feel at the moment ... Now, energised by a bit of nihilism, I'll hopefully find my enthusiasm again. Thank you for this!

[avatar]

I love this. I went to a DIY punk show last night and this song has the same kind of energy. Loud, catchy, percussive, and a little bit scary.

@pooka

....pleasant!

[avatar]

energetic , sounds like '77 I can relate to this

@heather

Love this vibe, it’s exactly how I feel. The frustration of not being able to stop it!! Love the badass guitar and the succinct yet extremely effective lyrics!

[avatar]

Fantastic! Love the punk! Given the state of things and how catchy this tune is, I plan to listen again!

[avatar]

Love how thrashy and bright those guitars are!! Chuck in some killer shouty vocals and a totally spot on bit of political commentary and you've got yourself a very tasty bit of punk rock - superb work both!

[avatar]
@ryuu

Punk energy and smart political-ish lyrics? Heck yeah.

[avatar]

Punktastic! Love the use of repetition. Looking forward to rocking some Rickenbacker 4003 on it...

[avatar]

Yes! This rocks with a great punk vibe and attitude as it captures the state of current affairs! Great driving guitar and awesome vocal delivery of punchy lyrics!

@nadine

Yay my favourite gal punk duo is back. You're killing it again. So much energy here. Don't know why the British way to say fuck hits so much harder. Lyrics are relatable xD

[avatar]

Pogoing in my chair listening to this πŸ˜‰ Punk was always the best genre for nihilism! It is indeed hard to see a grain of hope among the bleak terrain. But I have lived through a few moments when it looked like doom was on its way (Cuban missile crisis, cold war posturing under Reagan, Cruise Missile silos in my back yard, Chernobyl, etc) and somehow the apocalypse was avoided. 🀞🏼

[avatar]

Thumbs aloft! Waves phone with flashlight on from the crowd!* Top stuff! j$

*The first two setences are intentionally ironic. The last one is the truth.

[avatar]

An optimistic little number, always like extremely short songs.

@sireci

Nice and honest! Love to see it live sometime.

@zervas1

It's the 70's. We're in London. Let's go!

[avatar]

i love to hear expressions of outrage, songs that dont specify any one stupid thing they might have heard on tv, but a general aggression against the fucked up nature of things in general. brings back the days when yelling "fuck you!" to a cop meant something

[avatar]

Punk as f*ck. Love it! Great speed, great attitude, great singing, yes

[avatar]
@gbg2016

Awesome! A fantastic punk riff and great vocal delivery. Just the anthem we need.

[avatar]

Yep, that about sums it up!

[avatar]
@beacon

Yes, yes, yes! My feelings exactly.

[avatar]
@b3nut

Hell to the yeah!!! That's on fire!!!!

[avatar]

This is on fire. Classic Hellie lyrics. Perfect shoutalong material!

[avatar]

This is fucking brilliant! 😎😎

[avatar]
@sapient

That's a heckuva lot of piss and vinegar packed into under 90 seconds. I bloody love it. πŸ˜€

[avatar]

I love this so much! It's so raw and definitely reminds me of alternative and British punk, maybe 90s or early 2000s? So energetic and relevant, fricking awesome job!

[avatar]

Yeah!!! Awesome energy and perfect message for the times. I am releasing some of my frustrations now, just listening. Great job you both - Loved it!

@andyt13
